I want to start doing commissions. But deviantart points arent going to buy a broke student her dinner! Can you guys inform me how the whole commissioning thing works on this site? Can you get paid in money? If not, how do you suggest going about commissions in your own way? Do the commissioners pay before or after the art is done...? I know nothing ^^"
Thank you!!

Here's a small feature of some of my favourite art I found since joining! I really respect all these artists!

I don't do commissions, but I do frequently commission others for work. In my experiences, PayPal is the way to go. You're more likely to get commissioners to trust you if PayPal is doing with you sending an invoice versus "gifting" money. Unless you clearly have a bunch of commission work to showcase; then clearly you can be trusted.

A number of artists I've seen tend to do half before and half after. A few have done half after the sketch phase, and the other half before providing a final, non-watermarked version.

Other than that, not much reason to go something other than PayPal. It's easy, intuitive, and most people have a PayPal account. Best of luck!
